The film is based on director Laura Chinn’s personal experience as her brother Max received inpatient care at the Suncoast HospiceCare Center, an actual facility operated by the Florida-based nonprofit Empath Health. The Terry Schaivo story is not ours to tell, but many of those components affect end-of-lifecare every day.
Set to open this summer, the hospice facility will feature 15 patient beds at Lourdes Senior Community in Waterford, Michigan. Expanding hospicecare in the senior community will allow for improved support and care collaboration, according to Angela Hospice President and CEO Marti Coplai.
Above & Beyond has provided home health and hospicecare across eastern Iowa since 2004. Its home care services include nursing, and physical occupational and speech therapies, among others. Hospice utilization runs high in Iowa compared to other states. Utah held the highest rate that year at 60.5%.
The Indiana-based palliative care provider Center for HospiceCare (CHC) is looking beyond its immediate community and has developed networks that impact palliative care on a global scale. Historic run Getting the Global Partners in Care program to this level has been quite the journey for CHC.
