She began as a nurse at the hospice in 2010, and started her career at Berkeley Medical Center in 2008 as a primary nurse and charge nurse in the progressive care unit. Proceeds from the stores fund its grief program, Wings of Hope Family Bereavement Camps, and also help support hospice patients and families with special needs.

Vic died on June 3, 2008— many years ago and oh so recent. I stand at the granite cairn where Vic’s ashes are buried and listen to a Red-Winged Blackbird call from the swamp at the forest’s edge. Trout Lily (Dog Toothed Violet). I’ve learned to carry the grief of death near the love that still supports me every day.

Blane Brazier has worked full time in hospice since 2008. He currently works at Amity Hospice as their Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator where he also facilitates grief groups for bereaved family members. He has a unique ministry of using his guitar or sometimes the ukulele to engage the spiritual life of his patient's.
