So we’re going to have a link to the article that you published in JAMA IM titled The Hospital Culture and Intensity of End-of-LifeCare at Three Academic Hospitals. And I was interested in intensity of end-of-lifecare and differences in intensity of end-of-lifecare. Liz: Right.
So if I remember that study correctly, so it was a randomized control trial that was published in the New England Journal of palliativecare plus usual care, versus just usual oncological care. I entered this field wanting to actually optimize end of lifecare for patients with blood cancers.
What we did was ask clinicians earlier in the ICU stay for very sick patients to document prognosis, and for those who they thought would survive, to document six-month functional prognosis. That’s a pretty big palliativecare study. Eric: We just did a podcast on creating palliativecare consults.
